well...i was referring to the year-round community....the fishing fleet is dwindling....there are only 4 boats that fished all season...my thoughts...not having been here long...is that the october 1st trap day really changed the year-round landscape.

people have been leaving the year-round community...the bracys, the boegels, jan and billy, susan m, the murdocks, katherine gill, olivia, jp, durrell...the list is growing...

just a sign of the times....i guess...

I really wish one of the year rounders is able to buy the Boegels place and the store because that is one fantastic price. It would be nice if they have kids to keep the school open. But then I am sure it is not easy to live there year round; you need to be a hearty soul!

We are desperately trying to acquire the property with the help of MISCA...

Buon Giorno, Tito. I'd love to know who you are so all of us (yes summer, but nonetheless very important) residents can go to bat for you. Or at least keep us posted as to the progression of the purchase -- more energizing that MISCA is involved. Keep fighting!

You mentioned that the Boegels have left. Has their store closed down too?

Peter's quote, while containing wisdom, allows for each to take the time and course our own lives find appropriate...and smiling to myself I recognize for myself, it is easier said than done :) You dear Peter while stepping back into the shadows little by little regarding the Commons, will always be an icon to most of us here and will never be in the shadows of our minds regarding Monhegan Commons....it's just the way it is. Thank you..

I don't see Monhegan as dying at all. Like all that has ever existed , I feel Monhegan is an always evolving entity.....and through the years many of us are as "midwives", awaiting, assisting, and joyfully welcoming every phase of Monhegan that emerges and thrives and wanes, and then again builds upon itself....I do not despair.

I would like to ask bandito if he or she might talk a little more about the comment regarding Trap Day now being on Oct. first and how it has affected the year round community positively or negatively in banditos eyes...Please? :)

Best to all....R A

perhaps not dying- but certainly changing,.. and it is oh so sad ! One thing that that will never die is her spirit, for those of us who have felt it ,we know she will live on with or without those that inhabitant her....... but their spirits, their life and all they added to the character of Monhegan will long be missed by those that knew and admired them.
