Search Suspended

Monhegan Island – The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended their search for a thirty-two year old man who they say was swept out to sea near Monhegan Island.

Monhegan — As of Saturday morning, Sept. 10, the U.S. Coast Guard, state and local agencies, and several good Samaritans are still searching the waters off of Monhegan Island for a 32-year-old man who was swept out to sea by a wave, Friday afternoon, Sept. 9.

Ed Johnson

Artist Edmond C. Johnson, 84, passed away at his home on June 30, 2011. He was a lifelong resident of North Easton. For the past 28 years, Ed spent summers on Monhegan Island in Maine, where he owned a picturesque home and art studio.

George Joseph ‘Bud’ Murdock

Rockport — George J. “Bud” Murdock, innkeeper and proprietor of The Ocean House Hotel in Port Clyde, passed away June 9, 2011, at Penobscot Bay Medical Center after a brief but intense battle with cancer. Throughout his ordeal he was attended and supported by his loving family.

Winnie Burton

Cushing — Winifred V. “Winnie” Burton, 87, longtime Monhegan resident, died peacefully, Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Cushing Homestead.

A graveside celebration of her life will be held Saturday, June 4 at 2 p.m. at Seaview Cemetery, Rockport.
